Bottle Opener Class
In this 3-4 hour class you will learn some basics of blacksmithing with the opportunity to forge up to 3 bottle openers. We start off with a 20 minute discussion about the process we will follow and safety concerns to keep in mind.
Each class can serve between 1 - 6 students 18 years and older
Must be able to swing a 2 lb hammer
Basics of Blacksmithing
In this 4-5 hour long class you will learn the fundamentals of blacksmithing. How to choose your tools, proper PPE, proper technique, and the processes for efficiently forming steel. You will have the opportunity to forge many different goods such as; wall hangers, S hooks, nails, oyster shuckers, railroad spike bottle openers, bottle openers, hair pins, a railroad spike knife, meat turners, and whatever else your mind can imagine!
Each class can serve between 1 - 4 students 18 years and older
Must be able to swing a 2 lb hammer
Mono-Steel Knife Class
This 2 day class, will take 4 hours the first day and 3-4 hours the second day. We will start with discussing about the process and safety concerns before entering the forge. You will learning how to forge a full tang knife from a solid bar of 1095 high carbon steel, thermal cycling, grinding, heat treating, and finish work. You will have a variety of handle materials to choose from while crafting your very own knife!
This is a very hands on class and requires a bit more skillful use of the hammer and anvil along with power tools. I ask that you take my basics of blacksmithing class or have some prior experience either in blacksmithing or working with power tools before taking this class.
Each class can serve 2 students, 18 years or older
Must be able to swing a 2 lb hammer and operate power tools confidently with guidance from me.
Damascus Steel Knife Class
This is a 2 day class, 5-6 hours the first day and 5 hours the second day. We will start with discussing the process and safety concerns before entering the forge. In this class we will be forging a 100 layer damascus knife. You’ll be learning the process of forge welding, isolation of material, thermal cycling, grinding, heat treating, and finish work. You will have a variety of handle materials to choose from while creating your one of a kind handmade knife!
This is a very hands on class and requires a bit more skillful use of the hammer and anvil along with power tools. I ask that you take my basics of blacksmithing class or have some prior experience either in blacksmithing or working with power tools before taking this class.
