Your new knife is a one of a kind.
I hope that you enjoy your new Ginger Worx knife, here are a few things to keep in mind...
After each heavy use or if submerged in water be sure to dry and then lightly oil the blade. Since it is a high carbon steel it can rust if not properly maintained. I suggest WD40, natural lard, coconut oil, gun oil, or Axe Wax. Use food safe oil for kitchen knives.
There will be a natural patina over time that will darken the steel.
Try to avoid hitting the cutting edge or tip on rocks, metal, or other hard materials
If the blade is submerged remove it from its sheath and dry it off while allowing the sheath to dry out as well. With a leather sheath you want to be sure to oil it as well after getting wet or being submerged
NEVER EVER put the blade in the dishwasher this will ruin it.
HAND WASH ONLY WITH SOAP AND WATER
Edge maintenance
A wet stone or dry stone will be sufficient for honing an edge back.
I will sharpen Ginger Worx created knives as long as you can get them to me
I would recommend getting a stropping device of some sort. See @pocketstrop on Instagram and choose for your liking. Stropping helps to clean the edge of the blade up
Make sure there isn’t anything inside of your sheath that could damage the edge
I have used a food safe wax on the knife to aid in preserving the steel and wood after finishing the product. This is sufficient for the time being. Review further instruction above about continuing care for your new knife!
Enjoy the blade that will last for many generations!
Sincerely,
Aaron
